Sports events in Valencia draw thousands of fans every year: MotoGP, the marathon, football and sailing. Here are the ones not to miss and where to stay.
Valencia isn’t just sun, beaches and the best food; it has earned its place as an international sports capital. Its exceptional climate, world-class facilities and Mediterranean setting make it the perfect stage for spectacular sporting events.
If you’re passionate about sport, whether you’re competing or soaking up the atmosphere from the stands, our city is a must. Put these big events of the 2026 season in your calendar, including the ones that have already made history this year! 👇
🏊♂️ IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia: the epic challenge (19 April 2026)
The world’s most famous triathlon brand has a spectacular stop in the city on the Turia. IRONMAN 70.3 brings together thousands of iron athletes ready to push their limits and, although this year’s edition already left us breathless back in April, it’s a date every triathlete should mark for the future.
The best thing about this event is its picture-postcard course: the swim takes place in the calm waters of La Marina de Valencia, the bike leg tours the landscapes of the Sierra Calderona, and the run finishes in the spectacular setting of the City of Arts and Sciences. The atmosphere, the music and the passion around the port that weekend will give you goosebumps. 🚴♀️🏃♂️
⛵ SailGP: the Formula 1 of the sea (5–6 September 2026)
When September arrives, the intense summer heat eases off but the good weather stays, creating perfect wind conditions for sailing at breakneck speed. This year Valencia hosts the spectacular SailGP, the world’s fastest flying-catamaran competition.
The heart of the action will be La Marina de Valencia and the seafront. Strolling along the docks, watching the world’s best sailors fly over the water up close and enjoying an afternoon drink in the port bars while you feel the adrenaline of the races is an exclusive, exciting and spectacular plan. 🥂⛵
🎾 The Davis Cup and the Valencia Triathlon (MTRI) (September 2026)
As if that weren’t enough, September is a vibrant month for sport. As well as SailGP, the city will once again host the group stage of the Davis Cup tennis tournament (10–15 September 2026), bringing the world’s best players and fans together in an unrivalled atmosphere. 🏟️
And if the Ironman left you wanting more multisport, September is also the month of the Valencia Triathlon (MTRI), a huge, festive event that once again takes over the streets around the port and Malvarrosa beach, ideal for beginners and experienced triathletes alike who want to end the season on a high. 🥇
🛌 The advantage of staying close to the action
Whether you’re coming to pull on your wetsuit or to cheer on your loved ones from the stands, logistics are key. La Marina de Valencia, the Fuente de San Luis pavilion and the City of Arts and Sciences are at the heart of all these events.
Staying in the Port or Natzaret area means no traffic jams, no stress and no long public transport journeys with your sports kit. You can walk or cycle to the competition areas, store your bike comfortably in a spacious apartment and rest in total silence before the big day. 🧘♀️
