Valencia in July means the Gran Fira: concerts, fireworks and the Battle of Flowers fill the whole month. Here’s how to enjoy it without suffering in the heat.
If you’re visiting Valencia in July, you’ll coincide with one of the liveliest moments of the year for locals: the Gran Fira de València. Throughout the month, the city puts on a packed programme of cultural activities, open-air concerts and night-time fireworks that transform the Valencian summer.
So you can make the most of your stay without the stress, we’ve put together this guide with the most interesting events and the best practical tips for getting around from your Terreta Flats apartment.
Valencia in July: what to see at the Gran Fira
The 3 key events of the Gran Fira
Unlike other festivals, the Fira lasts the whole month and its activities are spread out. These are the three highlights we recommend putting in your diary:
1. The Viveros Concerts
The Jardines del Real (better known as Viveros) become a huge open-air auditorium, with Spanish and international artists performing for most of the month. The night-time atmosphere among the trees is really lovely.
You can buy tickets directly at: https://conciertosdeviverosvlc.com/comprar-entradas/
- Getting there: It’s very easy. Take bus 95, which stops very close to our Terreta Flats apartments and drops you practically at the gates of the gardens, running alongside the old riverbed.
2. Night-time fireworks by the sea
July’s firework displays have an advantage: they’re set off at night (usually around midnight) and many take place by the sea. The summery atmosphere by the water makes them very comfortable to watch.
Dates and times change every year: check the official Gran Fira programme before your trip. As a guide, this is how the last edition closed:
· Final Saturday of the Fira
“CORREFOC” (fire run) and fireworks display by Global Foc.
11 pm along Calle de la Paz – Glorieta – Palacio de Justicia and Puerta de la Mar.
· Final Sunday of the Fira
Fireworks display by Pirotecnia MartĂ.
11:59 pm on the Paseo MarĂtimo (next to the Antonio Ferrandis monument). A show inspired by the sea and the colours of summer, designed to thrill the crowd and close the festival in style.
- Getting there: Staying at Terreta Flats in Natzaret, you can walk to La Marina or the port in about 25–30 minutes, so there’s no need to take the car or hunt for parking.
3. The Battle of Flowers (last Sunday in July)
It’s the closing event of the fair and one of the city’s oldest traditions (held since 1891). It takes place on the Paseo de la Alameda, where huge flower-decked floats parade past and a friendly “battle” of carnations breaks out between the people on the floats and the crowd. It’s a very visual event, ideal if you’re travelling with family.

Practical survival tips for the Valencian summer
July in Valencia is hot and quite humid. To enjoy the city wisely, we Valencians follow a few simple rules that will help you plan your days:
- Adapt your timetable: In summer, life moves to the early morning (8–11 am) and the evening (from 7 pm). Midday is the perfect time to visit air-conditioned museums, enjoy a good rice dish or have a siesta.
- Make the most of your Terreta Flats apartment: All our apartments at Terreta Flats have air conditioning. We recommend planning your outings so you can rest at the apartment during the hottest hours, recharge and head out fresh for the fair’s night-time events.
- Beach mornings: If you want to cool off, head to the coast early in the day. Take bus 23 straight to the quieter southern beaches (such as Pinedo), or grab a bike at the Valenbisi station 100 metres from the apartment and ride along the seafront to Malvarrosa or Patacona beach.
🏖️ Beach kit: all our apartments come with a beach kit with an umbrella, a cool bag, ice packs and food containers so you can make the most of the beach.
Enjoying Valencia in July is all about planning. With a peaceful base to rest in (book now at Terreta Flats), air conditioning and public transport on your doorstep, you’ll have everything you need to live the summer like a local.
